I was keen to blame my problems on the marker I was using, I've even mailed the manufacturer for information. But as the quilt was drying I noticed that the marks were only appearing on one particular fabric - a hand-dye bought at FOQ last year, so I guess that some sort of chemical reaction has taken place.
This fabric, that appears in concentric rings across the quilt, now has an irregular red glow around some of it's edges. If I can make a feature of, or cover, this glow then all is not lost but the problem now is time. I've been working on this quilt whenever I have the time to make the deadline and there is little space for testing alternative solutions.
Currently I'm thinking that I'll begin the quilting process and see where that leads me .....

Interesting it should be the hand-dye - I'd have thought that anything that might have caused a chemical reaction would have washed out but obviously not! I'm sure, with an inventive mind like yours you will find a solution - and I'm glad it's not as much of a disaster as it sounded like yesterday. I have on occasion covered up problems with acrylic paint or fabric paint stippled on carefully (including the one at Uttoxeter) - you could do it so it looks like a layer of printing on the fabric if you're careful. Good luck with it!
The "irregular red glow" sounds almost good. It all hangs on the quilting now. Good luck.
No pressure then Carole!!!
