Can you hear it?

The sound of the steam escaping when the pressure valve is released?

Today I rang Twisted Thread to withdraw my quilt. I expected it to be like not handing in my homework - needing a good solid excuse, not to mention a back up excuse. I do feel guilty and hate the idea of having a withdrawn label in the space where my quilt should be, but it was the right decision.

Because there are four concentric arcs to be replaced, the remaining sections have bias edges and the movement of the pieces as I tried to put them back together was making life impossible.  I have realised that I need to stabilise each piece, albeit temporarily, before joining them together. Working out the best way to do this, then quilting and binding the piece is not something I could have done in the time available to me before the deadline. I feel quite sad now.

Commiserations!! I had to do that a few years ago - it's the penalty for having high standards. I felt miserable in the short term but I was so glad that I did withdraw it. Better than rushing to finish it and not being happy with the results which I've also done.

So sorry Linda: but better than getting yourself into a frazzle and hating having work there that doesn't meet your high standards (I've been there and done that so I know...) Give yourself some treats while you recuperate...

What a shame Linda, but if it's the right decision for you, so be it. I know what you mean about feeling guilty, letting the side down, by not taking part. We need to let go of being so conscientious.
