When I discover who I am, I'll be free

Brooklyn Art Project Spread 1

Or perhaps that should be, when I discover my best quilt making medium I'll be free to make the quilts I want to make!

I wanted to include a photocopy of this ATC at the start of the sketchbook as it encapsulates long conversations about what we are doing and where we are going with our quiltmaking.  But this was my first struggle  - with the format of the page. It was longer and thinner than it seemed! The second problem was getting colour on to the page that worked with the colour of the ATC. This obviously isn't right but the paper was beginning to disintegrate under my efforts so it remains as it is.

From what I've seen Linda a lot of people are using collage or sticking in works done on other papers in these Sketchbooks. The organisers say you can take their pages out and insert your own but I would be terrified to do that as you would have to retain the original cover and format and make the book flexible and durable so I will be using a lot of collage too I think, whenever I get started! I have colour washed some pages but the paper doesn't respond well.

Sticking stuff in also has the advantage that you don't have top worry about making a total idiot of yourself if it doesn't work!
