"This month the challenge is to think about your textile work space. How do you feel about this space? What role does it play in your life?"
How do I feel? - Ambivalent! I'm delighted to have a space that I can close the door on, I'm frustrated that it doesn't provide me with the complete solution. I'm not looking for a zillion square feet of space with wet and dry zones, though it would be nice to merit such a space. It's just that the light isn't good and I've no desk either in this room or anywhere else in the house, in retrospect this was an obvious oversight and will be rectified in time.
At times I'm organised and tidy - there are places for most things. But at times I'm dis-organised and untidy - I don't put things away as often as I should and/or there is nowhere to leave things in progress lying around.
What role does it play in my life? - It makes me happy but it is also a place where I can become anxious (deadlines, indecision) and even overwhelmed (where Iam going with all of this, who do I think I am, why????)

You have the same machine as me!! First person I've come across with one. How do you get on with free machining? Very jealous of your storage system!
No, desk - are the sewing machine on the floor then? Sort out the lights, very important.
Thanks for sharing.
The duality, again.... but your "untidy" is midrange rather than extreme, imho. All this, along with the re-emergence of my copy of the "Studios" special issue of Cloth Paper Scissors, is getting me thinking about workspaces - and might even lead to some action. Should there be a World Studio Clearup Day, perhaps?
I'm all for that, Margaret.
