Looking for ideas

When you are looking for inspiration you are supposed to consider images and art that you like so I put some collages together to jog my memory. I've grouped them loosely into categories, but I'm no nearer being inspired than i was when I began!

A different way of generating inspiration is to take two things that DON'T go together, and find ways to bridge the gap - for instance, words chosen at random, how would you make a piece that reflected both of them... Or, change a crucial attribute - what if the moon was green and the sea was yellow...
Of course it depends what type of inspiration you're looking for!

first of all I love all the things you brought together - interesting! Also you might want to pop over to my blog - we are running Off the Wall Fri and we find it wonderfully inspiring and motivating every week. Join in any week you want to share what you're doing creatively!

You've put together some good options there. Maybe you need to stop worrying about being inspired and just choose one. In the course of working with it is when inspiration may come. Otherwise, you might be too tied to the idea to really let it go and explore.

Perhaps you have to go one stage further now, dig deeper and analyse what you have chosen. Try writing just one A4 sheet about why you chose these images. Can you see any similarities of shape and form, or arrangement? Do some of the images reflect an interest in a subject matter? Are there particular colours that repeat themselves? Look at line, shape, colour, lay-out.

This exercise can help you recognise why certain images appeal. You can then use those factors in your own work. Good luck!

Well, I'm inspired just looking at your collages!
